Past Meets Present: Valentino’s Pre-Fall 2025 Showcase by Michele
Building on the momentum of Alessandro Michele’s last standout showcases for Valentino, the Pre-Fall 2025 collection emerges as a natural evolution of his vision, setting new standards for what will follow into 2025. The collection infuses storytelling with couture-like craftsmanship, while still preserving the brand’s legacy and Michele’s iconic flair. Every look had its own uniqueness, embellished with flowing appliqués, detailed embroideries, and fine lace accents, showcasing Michele’s admiration for Valentino’s legacy. Although designed for ready-to-wear, the collection embodied the refinement of couture, as artisans carefully handcrafted exquisite features using embroidery hoops—a reflection of Michele’s excitement about his newfound resources.
The co-ed collection explored recurring themes. Daywear took cues from the 1960s, featuring trapeze shapes, optical designs, and fun motifs like Cherry-fic and Petit Charles, showcasing Michele’s playful style. For bohemian-inspired garments, he looked back at 1970s Valentino, merging romance and maximalism through paisley dresses adorned with crystal embroidery and chiffon skirts worn with matelassé jackets. Evening wear presented ethereal tulle gowns, ideal for modern debuts or appearances on the red carpet.
Menswear took a similarly ornate route, featuring romantic tailoring and elaborate details. Capes in tapestry-jacquard, luxurious velvet field jackets, and richly embroidered hussar coats highlighted Michele’s talent for blending historic grandeur with contemporary design. Accessories enhanced this concept, presenting a stunning array of decorative embellishments.
With this collection, Michele affirmed his presence in Valentino’s story. Grounded in theatricality and creative narratives, his creations demonstrated that authentic artistry goes beyond brand names, reflecting his distinctive philosophy while paying tribute to Valentino’s heritage.
