Alexander McQueen – Lightness, Air and Water
For the Spring Summer 2022 collection, Alexander McQueen is inspired by the British poet, painter and printmaker William Blake. Blake’s sublime creative intuition has a largely celebrated reputation, drawing on the concept of the imaginary form of escapism, we can find the significant nature-related elements in his pieces. McQueen is also culturally rooted in England, this collection’s perfect balance between visual and literary presentations are particularly based on the exchange between art and fashion.
If we take a look at the colour palette of SS22, black, white and blue are very much settling in harmony, most of the materials are wool and silk. Not only focusing on fabric, the prints and textiles are also explored and experimented with. For instance, the single-breasted tailored jacket in Willam Blake Dante print wool, or the shirt and trousers, etc. The entire collection has a great aesthetic of connection, balance and cohesivity.
