Dreaming of Dior: Spring/ Summer 2018 Collection

Earlier this week, Dior’s lead designer Maria Grazia Chiuri showcased her Spring/Summer 2018 Collection during Paris Fashion Week.

Maria Grazia Chiuri has done it yet again, pairing cutting-edge trends with an expressive twist.

Inspired by the artwork of Niki De Saint Phalle, the venue displayed a vision of the artists tarot gardens and styles of her various work.

The front of the venue displaying a quote from Niki De Saint Phalle: “If life is a game of cards. We are born without knowing the rules. Yet we must play one hand. Throughout the ages people have liked playing with tarot cards. Poets Philosophers alchemists artists have devoted themselves to discovering their meaning.”
Niki De Saint Phalle was one of the first women widely known for her tremendous sculptures.

Over the past year, Maria Grazi Chiuri has not only made a trend of statement shirts on the runway, but she has made them pertain to todays world problems. For her Spring/Summer 2017 show last year, Grazia Chiuri showcased a “we should all be feminists” t-shirt, in addition to a “Dio(r)evolution” T-shirt. Opening the S/S 2018 show, another statement shirt, illustrating a tribute the great Niki De Saint Phalle. “Why Have there been no great women artists?”, surrounded by the inspired venue of a monumental woman artist.

As if Diane Keaton inspired Grazia Chiuri’s quirky and playful masculine looks, the collection takes a look at reinvented old style, turned new style fashion.

Maria Grazia Chiuri has crossed charming-quirky looks with bad girl motto vibes. With an ode to Parisian style, this fabled designer has embodied what being a woman in todays day and age entails. And how to  be a well-dressed one at that.
